Did you know that I have been capturing family’s on the Texas coast for 14 years? Yall! To say it has changed is an understatement! But let me tell you, it’s just as magical today as it was years ago. And guess what’s even better? A day trip to Galveston is a mere hour drive from most parts of Houston. And, I’m even going to double down here, and tell you that scheduling a family session on said day trip would definitely make you “mom and wife of the year” because beach sessions are effortless fun for all!

A few tips for a day trip photoshoot Galveston Beach:
- Bring extra ‘everything’
Yes, you need extra clothes for your children AND yourself! Nobody wants to ride home in soggy, sandy shorts and that includes your husband! - Prepare for Wind
Be sure to have clear or hair colored hair ties for you or your daughter on hand. Beach wind is no joke but I am also a fan of embracing the elements when it comes to images. The movement in your dress and hair from the wind add an emotive edge to your family pics. - Bug spray is a must have
It’s true everything is bigger in Texas including the mosquitoes. Grab a bottle of your favorite bug spray and keep it in the car. - Expect a crowd
By the number of inquiries I have gotten for Galveston and Jamaica Beach sessions this spring I can tell you that the masses have discovered our little slice of Texas Coastline. I work with my family’s to find locations that are a little off the beaten path and less crowded but even those locations have some vacationers hanging around. That’s what the magic of photoshop is for my friend. - Just let go and have fun!
The beach provides the most laid back backdrop for a session with toddlers or a family shoot with teens. Kick off your flip flops, feel the sand between your toes and enjoy this day get away with your family as I show you just how beautiful your moments really are!
