As many of you know last year from this POST i started our “everyday” project with my girls, and it truly makes my heart sing!  Capturing those every day moments of real life, of OUR real life, is the heart of my photography and the reason i ever picked up a camera in the first place.  Its funny how we assume that we will always remember the BIG things that happen in our babies lives but the little things, the ins and outs…the everydays…well lets be honest they all run together in one big beautiful haze.

well in “walks” my sweet friend jules trandem and 11 other incredible rockstar photographers with a personal project and an invite for me to jump on in…The project is called “what_____looks like” and the goal according to jules is to capture our OWN families in a real life and beautiful way.  Each month we will fill in the blank with what ever our little hearts desire.  We will each link to the next photographer in the group and this will allow YOU and me, of course, to follow the blog posts through and have a tiny peak, a small glimpse into the lives of each of our families.

As you know from things i have written in the past i truly believe that each of you, no matter what kind of camera you have or dont have, no matter how perfect or imperfect our days can be, it needs to be captured…LIFE needs to be captured.  As a group we hope to inspire you to take out that camera, capture a full day of YOUR life, capture your afternoon swinging at the park, or riding bikes to check the mail, any of it, all of it, just capture it!  No one but your family will prob ever enjoy these images and hey they may not ever even be edited if you are a photog but the bottom line is someday you will look back and you will be so happy you have these memories captured!

so here goes nothing…my take on this months project is

what going to mimi and papa’s house looks like…as on a normal day i prob never would have even thought to capture the process.  The girls are finally old enough and excited to head on up to austin to have a sleepover with our parents.  Sometimes they have gone so that daddy cheeks and i can have a little mini vacation sometimes they have gone because i have a weekend full of shooting, but no matter why they go, its always a special time for them and for our parents.  They are so lucky to have grandparents that are just close enough but not too far away.  I love when we meet in the middle to pick them back up and even though its only been two days they look different…they just seem “bigger” …its not that they grew overnight or anything its that ME, their MOM is see’ing them…i mean REALLY see’ing them.  the ins and outs of our daily routine are sometimes exhausting and sometimes exhilarating but when they are gone and i have a moment to clear my head…i have a moment to “miss” them.  two days is just enough for us 🙂
