its funny, as mothers we all love and adore our kidlets but with the in and outs of everyday, the running from baseball to swimming to gymnastics to football, the cleaning the house, brushing the teeth, and getting new shoes every few months, we dont always get to stop and look.  the one thing i always tell first time parents while i am shooting, is to take it all in, enjoy every breathe, and watch every moment bc in an instant that all goes away and you never get to just “sit” and watch your baby “be” again.  well when i added the sibling session last month it was for two reasons, 1. its a one stop shop for clients who have 2,3,4 kids and 2. for THIS very reason.   family sessions are slightly crazy and with everyone in the pics, mom spends so much time checking everyones hair, shirts, pants, etc that she never gets to fully relax…Weeeeell…this session is so much more than i could ever have imagined…mom and dad just got to watch, got to really “see” their kids tonight.  mom got to take in every single ounce of baby that was left in her son, got to relish in his moments, moments that teetered between see’ing her baby and see’ing her BOY.  She watched her daughter dance on the edge of blossoming into a tween but still showing glimpses of her first born, the baby, that made her a mom with her first breath.

So yes these session are about only having to coordinate outfits and keep everyone happy in one day at one time, but its also about so much more.  As our kids get older, i imagine we are doing so much for them that we rarely stop and watch them BE them, and nothing is better than that because someday…we’re all gonna miss this
